In Damascus looted the main residence of Assad. Opponents of the former Syrian president are now touring the palace for journalists. That's what they saw
On December 8, the Assad regime, which had been in power for more than 50 years, fell in Syria. ousted President Bashar al-Assad fled to Russia as his opponents seized Damascus. Soon, the main residence of the Assad family – the People’s Palace on Mount Mezz – was looted. People who came there filmed themselves in the interiors of the palace, tore down state symbols and portraits of the former president, and also took out furniture, equipment and valuables from the palace. Now the former residence of the Assads is under the control of fighters of anti-government groups. They allegedly guard the building from looters and arrange tours for Western journalists, who have described the palace as a monument to the brutal but defeated Assad regime.
